After Criticism – Uefa Takes Action: "Detailed Plan"

One of the talking points after Thursday's European Championship match between England and Denmark was the quality of the pitch in Frankfurt, where several players slipped.

Now, the European football association (Uefa) has announced that it will take action.

"A detailed plan is in place to address specific problems and improve the quality ahead of the upcoming matches at the arena", Uefa writes in a statement.

In Frankfurt, it has rained a lot over the past week, which has affected the quality of the pitch.

England's national team manager Gareth Southgate said after the 1–1 match against Denmark that players can easily become nervous about making mistakes when playing on such a pitch. However, he also stressed, according to ESPN, that he would not use the quality of the pitch as an excuse for his England only getting a point from the match.

The pitch in Frankfurt was relaid in November last year after two NFL matches were played there. After a training match in March earlier this year, Germany's national team manager Julian Nagelsmann said the pitch was a "catastrophe".

Germany will play their next match, against Switzerland, in Frankfurt itself.
