Apple says that app developers will be able to "communicate and market offers for purchases available on any platform" this fall.
The EU accused Apple in June of hindering app developers from freely directing consumers to alternative payment methods. Apple is the first technology company ever to be accused of violating the EU's Digital Market Act, DMA.
Now Apple says it will make changes to the App Store to comply with the new law. The changes include, among other things, changed costs regarding the fees that the company charges other developers for access to the App Store.
The Commission has been conducting several investigations since earlier this year into how Apple and other online giants operate in accordance with the DMA. In the worst case, the companies risk hefty fines of up to 10 percent of the companies' global turnover.
