At least ten people have died in Hurricane Beryl's passage over the Caribbean. The storm has now hit the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico with winds of up to 175 kilometers per hour.
Advertising signs have been torn down, trees have fallen, and power outages have occurred in many areas.
Heavy rainfall has hit popular tourist cities like Cancun and Tulum, and hundreds of tourists have been evacuated from hotels. More than 300 flights have been cancelled or delayed, reports BBC.
The hurricane has been downgraded to a tropical storm but is expected to regain strength as it continues over the Gulf of Mexico during the weekend.
