Lasse Berghagen is to be honoured with a tribute gala in Mariehamn on Åland on 25 July.

Behind the initiative is the Åland billionaire Anders Wiklöf, who was a close friend of Berghagen's and is known for hosting free concerts with famous artists on his birthday every summer.

Over the years, Lasse Berghagen has been a regular feature at the birthday parties, which usually attract around 10,000 visitors.

According to a press release, Wiklöf believes that Berghagen has not been sufficiently honoured by, for example, SVT or the Grammis Awards since he passed away last autumn. Therefore, half of the three-and-a-half-hour-long concert will be dedicated to the popular entertainer's songs.

Performing, among others, are Tomas Ledin, Sissel Kyrkjebø, Sanna Nielsen, and Lotta Engberg.
