Portugal is clear for the quarter-finals in the European Championship and secured the group win after the 3–0- victory over Turkey.

The latter were responsible for a crazy own goal after a mistake in defence.

The 2–0 goal was a bizarre one.

Samet Akaydin was going to pass back to his goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, who had come out from the goal. Akaydin didn't look up before hitting the pass, which went on the inside of Bayindir and towards the goal.

Bayindir and Zeki Celik threw themselves after the ball, but it had already rolled over the goal line.

There have now been a total of six own goals during the championship.

Samet Akaydin was substituted in the final stages of the match due to an injury.

Portugal qualified

At 3–0, many were shocked when Cristiano Ronaldo, who got into a clear scoring position, chose to selflessly pass to Bruno Fernandes, who could put the ball in the net.

The first goal was scored by Bernardo Silva in the 21st minute.

The win means that Portugal is now clear top of Group F after securing six points from their first two matches, as they will come ahead of Turkey via head-to-head meeting if the teams finish on the same points.

Portugal's superstar Cristiano Ronaldo remains goalless in the championship.

A total of five pitch invaders managed to get onto the pitch during the match, all of whom ran up to Ronaldo before security could remove them.

Dual suspensions

Turkey's Abdulkerim Bardakci received a yellow card in the 25th minute after a rough tackle on Bernardo Silva. The centre-back is therefore suspended for Turkey's final group stage match against the Czech Republic, after also receiving a yellow card in the match against Georgia.

The same applies to Portugal's Rafael Leão, who received a yellow card for a foul in the first half. Leão's first yellow card, in the match against the Czech Republic, was also for a foul.

Portugal will meet Georgia in their final group stage match.
