A 75-year-old woman has died after a car was hit by a train.

The accident occurred just after 9 pm on Friday evening at a railway crossing in Bromölla. According to the rescue service, the car was dragged 100 to 150 meters after the collision.

There was only one person in the car, says Mikael Lind, duty officer at the police.

The accident occurred at a monitored crossing with barriers.

About 30 people were on board the train. The police have no information that any of them were injured.

Exactly what happened will now be investigated, says the police.

There are probably some patrol left and working on the site, and technicians from the Transport Administration are assisting in the work, says Mikael Lind.
