The authority, located in Angered, Gothenburg, has been criticized. In December 2018, M, KD, and SD voted in favour of a proposal in the Riksdag to shut it down. An agreement between C, L, S, and MP saved it.
When the government presented its budget, it became clear that the Equality Authority will receive an additional 72 million kronor next year. According to Paulina Brandberg, there are no plans to shut it down.
Lise Tamm currently works at the National Anti-Corruption Unit. She has previously, among other things, been a prosecutor at the International Criminal Court in The Hague. She takes over after Lena Ag, who is retiring.
