Efter months of rumors, it is now official: French football star Kylian Mbappé is officially presented by Real Madrid.
The contract extends over five seasons.
"It's a dream that's coming true," writes Mbappé on X.
The announcement came on Monday evening, which the football world had been waiting for, after months of rumors. Real Madrid's Instagram announced that they have reached an agreement with Kylian Mbappé.
"Our team is strengthened by a world star, a spectacular striker," writes the club.
The contract with the new Champions League winner extends over five years.
"It's a dream that's coming true. I'm so happy and proud to become part of my dream club. No one can understand how ecstatic I am right now," writes Mbappé on X.
Mbappé, who has played for Paris Saint-Germain since 2017, informed the club's leadership according to several news media in February that he had no plans to extend his expiring contract.
In early May, the star himself confirmed that there would be no continuation in the Paris club.
The French superstar broke through significantly at 18 years old in the 2016-2017 season when his Monaco won the league and made it all the way to the Champions League semifinals.
His play sparked interest in him from several top clubs in Europe and culminated in his debut for France and a transfer to PSG.
Since then, Mbappé has established himself as one of the world's best football players. He was part of the French team that won the World Cup in 2018, and was close to following it up with another gold in the 2022 Qatar World Cup, where he scored a hat-trick in the final that ended in a penalty shootout against Argentina.
The 25-year-old, who has dedicated his entire career so far to playing in Ligue 1, has also been rumored to be close to a move to Real Madrid in the past but was convinced to sign a new contract with PSG.
Mbappé's last match for Paris Saint-Germain was the cup final against Lyon, where the team secured the title with a 2-1 win. In the French league – which PSG won – Mbappé won the top scorer award with his 27 goals.
