It is now clear that it will be the Qatari pair Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan that Sweden's duo David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig will face in the Olympic Games semifinal in beach volleyball.
We are super pleased that we have made it to the semi, and we will do everything to play well and try to win the two remaining matches we have now, said Hellvig after making it to the semifinal.
The Swedish world eighth-seeds have already met Younousse/Tijan during the Olympic Games, in the group stage – then it was a win for the Qatari pair with 2–1 in sets.
In the other semifinal, the Norwegians Anders Mol and Christian Sørum will face the German pair Clemens Wickler/Nils Ehlers.
We just enjoy. We like playing on an arena like this. I'm sure we can fight for medals. Now we're going for gold, says Mol to Max according to the Norwegian news agency NTB.
Sweden's semifinal will be played on Thursday at 22.00.
