Denmark have progressed to the European Championship finals.

In the round of 16, a tougher task awaits: host nation Germany.

It's a relief. I'm proud that we're through, says Christian Eriksen after 0—0 against Serbia.

The goalless match in Munich secured advancement to the round of 16 in the football championship.

The ranking after the qualifying round ensured Denmark took second place behind England ahead of Slovenia in Group C – and thus gets a tough round of 16 match.

On Saturday, host nation Germany awaits in Dortmund.

Of course, we could have needed some wins, but we came second and now have the chance to advance even further, says Christian Eriksen, who has now made the most appearances, 133, for Denmark's national team, in SVT's broadcast.

Denmark began their European Championship journey against Slovenia, England, and Serbia, with the results: 1–1, 1–1, and 0–0.

As the finals in Germany continue, something else awaits.

A draw is no longer enough for the "red and whites".

In the round of 16 and onwards, only wins count, regardless of whether they are secured during regular time, extra time, or penalties.

England secured the group win via 0–0 against Slovenia – a result that also means the Slovenians are through as one of the four best third-placed teams.

It's an incredible feeling. It's never happened to us. We're proud to have made it through, as it was a tough group, says Slovenia's goalkeeper Jan Oblak to SVT.

We'll do our best, as we have in the last three matches.

Which opponent awaits for England and Slovenia is not yet clear.
