The Serbian world number Novak Djokovic is through to the French Open tennis championships after defeating Italian Lorenzo Musetti in five sets. But it was a tough one.

The match lasted a total of 4.5 hours and was finally decided at 03:08 on Sunday night – and never before in the tournament's history has a match gone on so late. Weather conditions forced the match to be delayed by two hours and it couldn't start until half past eleven.

The scores were 7-5, 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-0, but it was no easy win for the 24-time Grand Slam winner. At one point, it looked like Djokovic was struggling to get back on track after the opening sets.

Djokovic praised his rival for playing "really fantastic tennis".

In the round of 16 on Monday, Djokovic will face Argentine Francisco Cerundolo, ranked 27th in the world.
