Duplantis borrowed Sjöström's Olympic gold: "Partied hard"

Armand Duplantis celebrated the Olympic gold and world record in the Paris night with, among others, the two-time Olympic gold medalist Sarah Sjöström. Since Duplantis received his gold only on Tuesday evening, the Swedish-American had to borrow one of the swimming star's. It was good for the pictures, he says to Max.

At 9 am on Tuesday morning, 24-year-old "Mondo" visited the TV broadcasting Max studio in Paris. About eleven hours after taking his second Olympic Games gold and improving his own world record in pole vault to 6.25 meters at Stade de France in Paris in front of around 80,000 spectators in the audience.

Duplantis looked tired after a party night with, among others, swimming star Sarah Sjöström, Olympic gold medalist in 50 and 100 freestyle earlier during the Olympic Games. Duplantis, who received his Olympic gold for the first time on Tuesday evening, borrowed one of her medals during the celebration.

I did that. It was good for the pictures, says Duplantis with shiny eyes to Max and continues:

I had like all my closest friends here on site. My family was here too. Partied hard, maybe a bit too hard for this early morning. But how fun anyway.

In the studio, the Swedish-American got to see the TV footage of his record jump for the first time.

It's like a dream, it's hard to understand that it's real, he says.
