European Success - This is How Much Swedish Teams Can Earn

The Swedish football teams are storming ahead in the European Championship qualifiers, all just one step away from league play in the fall. Sweden and the Allsvenskan have already taken a giant leap in the rankings, and with advancement, a million rain awaits.

Malmö FF (Champions League), Elfsborg (European Championship), Djurgården and Häcken (Conference League) are all 180 minutes away from qualifying for their respective UEFA tournaments this autumn.

For MFF and Elfsborg, European games are already secured in some form, while for Djurgården and Häcken, a win in the playoff is required. If they advance, a million rain awaits.

Not least for Malmö FF, where the difference between playing in the Champions League and the European Championship is at least 164 million kronor.

Nearly 214 million kronor

Making it to the group stage, as it is now after the format change, in the Champions League means securing around 214 million kronor, compared to the European Championship's approximately 50 million and the Conference League's 36, according to UEFA.

Additionally, the clubs receive an additional 24 million for each win in the group stage of the CL, and eight for a draw. Significantly larger sums than in both the European Championship and the Conference League.

For Elfsborg, playing in the Conference League and 36 million is already secured, and the economic difference between the European Championship and the Conference League is, in this context, "only" around 14 million kronor.

Sweden stands out – climbing significantly

The fact is that only nine countries in all of Europe have all their teams remaining in the European qualifiers. Eight of them are ranked top 10, where several countries' teams are either directly qualified for the main tournament or enter in this week's playoff round.

The ninth country is 23rd-ranked Sweden. Allsvenskan started the qualifiers as the 30th best league in Europe, but after nine out of nine won double matches, Sweden has climbed significantly.

This means that the chances for better conditions in future qualifiers, in the form of seeding and which qualifying round the Swedish teams enter, increase.
