The US central bank, the Federal Reserve (Fed), is getting closer to an interest rate cut, as shown by the protocol from the latest interest rate meeting in July.
A large majority of the members of the Fed's monetary policy committee are ready to cut rates at the meeting in September if the inflation figures continue to develop as the Fed expects. Some members wanted a cut already at the July meeting, reports CNBC.
The key interest rate in the US has remained unchanged in the range of 5.25-5.50 percent since July last year.
On Friday, Fed Chairman Jerome Powell will give a speech in Jackson Hole in the state of Wyoming. Investors will be looking for signals in the speech about the pace of the interest rate cut.
