Food prices have stopped rising.
In June, they fell marginally compared to May. And over a year, food has only become 1.1 percent more expensive – much lower than it looked last year, according to SCB's new figures.
Food prices, including non-alcoholic beverages, fell by 0.1 percent in June compared to May.
The largest price reductions were for lettuce, honeydew melon, and pickled herring. The first two fell by around 16 percent, while the herring price decreased by 13.5 percent.
On the other hand, leek, white cabbage, and grapes stood for the largest price increase among food items in June compared to the previous month, according to the Statistics Sweden's figures. The increase was 30.8 percent for leek, while the price increased by 12.9 and 9.2 percent for white cabbage and grapes, respectively.
On an annual basis, cauliflower has increased the most in price, by 27.4 percent. Next are cucumber and potatoes, which have increased by 20.4 and 17.5 percent, respectively. At the same time, pears, tomatoes, and small citrus fruits stand for the largest annual price drops.
