Denmark's handball ladies have been hit by a late setback ahead of the OS. Midfielder Simone Petersen suffered a foot fracture during the second-to-last practice and will miss both Thursday's premiere against Slovenia and the rest of the tournament.
"It's unbearable, I'm at a loss for words", says Petersen to the Danish Handball Federation's website.
Reserve Helena Elver has been written into the Danish OS squad, while Andrea Aagot Hansen is brought in as a reserve at home.
Sweden is playing in the same group as Denmark, and the countries will meet in the third round, on Tuesday next week. For Sweden, the OS tournament begins with a match against Norway on Thursday.
