Athletics Swedish Championship is underway in Uddevalla.

Then the expected Swedish champions on 100 meters were crowned – Henrik Larsson and Julia Henriksson.

Henriksson was also close to the Swedish record.

Henrik Larsson ran in 10.24 seconds – two tenths of a second faster than second-placed Linus Pihl, and nearly three tenths of a second ahead of third-placed Zion Eriksson.

It was a long wait between the attempts, which was a bit boring, but that's how it is. The race was nothing to write home about, I lost my rhythm at 70 meters and lost some speed, but okay, says Larsson to SVT.

Larsson took his seventh consecutive Swedish Championship gold on 100 meters with the win.

It's very fun, of course.

Henriksson close to record

In the women's equivalent, Julia Henriksson took the Swedish Championship gold. Her victory was also expected after the 23-year-old's super season.

Henriksson won with a season-best time of 11.08 seconds, and it was only the strong tailwind that stood between the runner and the long-awaited Swedish record (11.16).

It feels incredibly fun. It's a shame about the wind, but the Swedish record will come. I'm so happy to win today, says Henriksson.

Elvira Tanderud came second with a time of 11.47 seconds and Michelle De Silva came third with a time of 11.54.

OS approaching

Both Henriksson and Larsson will also compete in the 200 meters during the Athletics Swedish Championship.

The OS in Paris begins on July 26. Henrik Larsson has been selected, but Julia Henriksson is not yet part of the Swedish team – at least not yet.

It's clear I want to take two golds here and perform, then it's the last weekend for OS selection, so it's clear I want to show what I can do, says Henriksson.

Otherwise, on Friday, Maja Åskag took the victory in the women's triple jump, Maja Nilsson won the high jump, Ragnar Carlsson threw the longest in the men's hammer throw, and Wictor Petersson took gold in the shot put.
