During the Olympics, French athletes will not be allowed to wear hijab. Something that has sparked great anger and criticism from the rest of the world.
One of those affected by the decision is the French runner Sounkamba Sylla. Initially, she was banned from participating in the opening ceremony due to her hijab. But now, the 26-year-old and the French Olympic Committee have reached an agreement, making it possible for her to participate.
In a statement, they write the following:
"She was offered to wear a cap instead, which she accepted."
Sylla herself is very pleased to be able to participate in the opening ceremony, but also sends a greeting to those who have supported her in the struggle.
"Finally, we have reached an agreement so that I can participate in the Olympic opening ceremony. I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your support and encouragement since the beginning of this", Sylla writes on Instagram.
