Households continue to borrow more

Household lending increased by 1.0 percent in September compared to the same month last year, according to the Statistics Sweden (SCB). This can be compared to 0.9 percent in increased lending the previous month.

Mortgage loans accounted for 83 percent of the total lending to households.

"The average floating mortgage rate for new agreements decreased for the second month in a row and amounted to 4.19 percent in September. Mortgage rates for new agreements with a term of three years or longer increased slightly compared to August," writes SCB in a press release.

Lending to non-financial corporations decreased by 2.4 percent in September.

Total lending to households and non-financial corporations amounted to SEK 7,925 billion, of which 63 percent was to households.
