The helicopter crash in May, in which Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi was killed, was caused by bad weather and too heavy a load. This is reported by the regime-friendly news agency Fars, citing a well-informed security source.
The helicopter, in which the 63-year-old Raisi and his entourage were traveling, crashed in a remote mountainous area. In addition to President Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, a local governor, and several high-ranking government officials were also killed.
According to Fars' source, the investigation conducted by the security service shows that what happened "with all certainty was an accident".
Iran's military already stated in May that they had not found any evidence of a crime being committed in connection with the crash.
According to Fars' information, it was the bad weather and the fact that the helicopter's passenger capacity was exceeded by two people that lay behind the accident.
