The football player Angel Gomes was knocked unconscious after a heading duel when his Lille faced Reims in the premiere of the French top league on Saturday.

The match was paused for almost half an hour while the 23-year-old received treatment on the grass before being taken to the hospital.

Now he is giving reassuring news.

I'm doing well and am back home again. People have taken care of me and I'm doing well, he says in a video on his Instagram account.

It was a crazy collision, but it's something that happens in football. The most important thing is that I'm okay, says the Englishman, who played for Manchester United before moving to Lille in 2020.

The situation occurred after a quarter of an hour and Reims Amadou Kone was sent off for going in too hard in the duel. Lille won the match 2–0.
