Andreas Kramer continues to show brilliant form ahead of the OS in Paris.

At the Diamond League gala in Monaco, he beat his previous Swedish record on 800 meters. The new time: 1.43,13.

Talking to TV4, a pleased Kramer says:

I'm building up my form successively throughout the season. It feels like we've found the right way. I feel like I'm in the right place right now ahead of the OS.

For Kramer, it was the third time this summer that he beat his Swedish record. As recently as last Sunday, he finished with the then-record time of 1.43,65 at the Paris Diamond League gala.

But on Friday evening, he lowered his record again.

My body feels better and better. I got a great race in Paris as a warm-up for this race. I got a great time there and above all, I'm even more physically ready to run a personal best today. I knew that the competition today is even tougher than in Paris, says the 27-year-old in top form.

Despite the cannon time, Kramer was a good bit away from the tight finish and finished – just like in Paris – in seventh place.

The best performance came from Algerian Djamel Sedjati, who delivered a thunderous race with a time of 1.41,46 – the third-best result of all time on 800 meters. The world record is 1.40,91, set by Kenyan David Rudisha at the OS in London 2012.

The OS in Paris opens on July 26.

Born: April 13, 1997 (27 years old).

Club: Ullevi FK.

Previous club: Sävedalens AIK.

Event: 800 meters.

Main achievements: European Championship silver 2018, World Championship silver indoors 2024.

Current: Beat his Swedish record at the Diamond League gala in Monaco.
