The murder of gang leader Ismail Abdo's mother triggered a long chain of violent revenge actions.
The murder sentences are now being finalized – life imprisonment and four years of closed youth care – for a 20-year-old and a 16-year-old, announces the Svea Court of Appeal.
The duo, who were 19 and 15 years old at the time of the crime, are convicted of jointly and in agreement murdering the mother, who was found shot with a bullet in the chest at home in the villa in Uppsala last September.
She was shot with a pistol with a silencer through an open window. The 20-year-old, whose DNA was found on the murder weapon, will be deported after serving their sentence.
The prosecution had also requested imprisonment for the 16-year-old, who according to the Court of Appeal would have been sentenced to life imprisonment if they had been over 18 years old.
The prison sentences are also being finalized for three individuals convicted of aiding and abetting murder, aggravated weapons offenses, and accessory to aggravated weapons offenses.
Friends became enemies
Ismail Abdo was previously highly placed in the Foxtrot network and was close to leader Rawa Majid, but last year they ended up on opposite sides of a violent conflict. Both are internationally wanted and are believed to be hiding abroad.
Prosecutor Erik Grönvall emphasized during the district court hearing that the woman had no connection to her son's criminality and that her only crime was being the gang leader's mother.
The 20-year-old chatted with two leading figures on Majid's side of the divided Foxtrot network before and after the murder. Both have since been shot dead abroad in incidents linked to individuals close to Ismail Abdo.

The chats also reveal that the two hitmen were promised more money for each member of Ismail Abdo's family they murdered. The mother was their only victim.
The duo was arrested the morning after the deed with the murder weapon in a hotel room.
During the fall of 2023, a long series of violent incidents followed, both in and outside Sweden, linked to the conflict.
