Maguire dropped from the EM squad: "Devastated"

It won't be an EM final for Manchester United's English center-back Harry Maguire. Both Maguire and Jack Grealish were snubbed when the final 26-man squad was announced.

There will be no European Championship final for Manchester United's English center-back Harry Maguire.

Both Maguire and Jack Grealish were snubbed when the final 26-man squad was announced.

Before the final squad was officially confirmed, Harry Maguire went out on X and said he had been dropped:

"I'm devastated not to have been selected for England's squad for the summer's European Championship", he writes.

He was included in the 33-man preliminary squad – but was cut from it when it was reduced to 26 players.

Maguire missed the end of the Premier League season with a calf injury, and writes that he is not yet fit to play.

"Despite doing my best, I haven't managed to get on top of a calf injury. Maybe I pushed myself too hard to get fit", he writes.

Even Jack Grealish, Manchester City, was dropped by coach Gareth Southgate.

Among others who failed to make the final cut are James Maddison, Tottenham, and Curtis Jones, Liverpool.

England will face Iceland in a warm-up match at Wembley on Friday before the European Championship starts against Serbia next Sunday.

The other teams in England's group are Denmark and Slovenia.
