A comprehensive rainstorm has caused flooding in several areas of Östergötland.

Primarily, the municipalities of Linköping, Motala, and Mjölby have been affected, according to the rescue service, which received many alarms during Saturday evening and the night towards Sunday.

It has been tough. Many have got water in their basements and so on, says Niklas Nyrén at the rescue service in Östergötland.

We have been out all night, and now people who didn't notice anything during the night are waking up, so we're getting a lot of calls now, he adds.

Mantorp in Mjölby municipality is one of the areas that have been affected the worst, according to the rescue service. Entire blocks have had water up to knee height, and the water has entered many properties.

Even though the rain seems to be decreasing on Sunday morning, there is still a lot of water left in stormwater drains and on the ground, which means that the rescue service expects continued high pressure during the day.

We're trying to prioritize our resources. It's clear that many have been affected by this rain, says Nyrén.
