The number of student debts that end up with the Enforcement Authority has increased from 130,000 to 175,000 individuals since the turn of the year, an increase of 35 percent, reports P3 News.

One reason may be the tough economic situation in society, which means that people have less money in their wallets, says Davor Vuleta, private economist and spokesperson for the Enforcement Authority.

Based on our experience, we know that people prioritize the most necessary things - rent, electricity, and food. When it's tough economically, I think that CSN debts fall lower on the priority list, says Vuleta to P3 News.

Another reason, Vuleta believes, may be that CSN debt has a low interest rate and that people have a long time to pay back the loan.
