The development at today's HVB homes is going in the wrong direction, according to the party, where young people with a criminal background instead of receiving care, risk being drawn deeper into crime and recruited into gangs.

Extended powers
The news is presented in connection with Andersson's visit to Sandviken for her summer speech.
According to the proposal, HVB homes will be divided into different security classes based on the risk profile of the young people, which the Social Democrats have also proposed earlier.
The extended powers that would come with municipalization involve, for example, the possibility for staff to search rooms and restrictions on electronic communication and stays outside the homes.
Cooperation between municipalities
If the municipalities took over the operation, the possibility of insight and follow-up would also increase.

We'll put a stop to that by having it driven in public administration, says Magdalena Andersson to TT, adding that the extended powers cannot be handed over to private companies.
Municipalities will be able to cooperate with each other to avoid having to stand for all HVB care themselves.
How much would it cost to change the system?
It's not certain that it would cost anything at all. Now, our tax money is going to profits in private companies. If it's driven in public administration, we'll get rid of the unscrupulous actors and our tax money can stay with the homes, says Andersson.
On the other hand, if we need to raise the quality of the homes so that young people don't relapse into crime, then it would be a cost-driving reform.
HVB stands for Home for care and accommodation. There, social services can place children and young people who need care or support, for example, to get out of drug abuse.
