The Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen set a world record on 3,000 meters in the Diamond League in Poland.

Ingebrigtsen crushed the old world record from 1996 by more than three seconds and clocked 7:17.55.

It was an amazing feeling to cross the finish line. It's hard to know how fast you can run, but I hoped it would go fast and I thought I kept the pace up the whole time, he says to SVT.

It's fun that you can focus on other distances as well, says the Norwegian.

The Kenyan Daniel Komen had the old record of 7:20.67.

Ingebrigtsen failed in the Olympic Games in Paris when he was a top favorite on 1,500 meters but missed the medal and finished fourth.

A few days later, he got his revenge when he instead took Olympic gold on 5,000 meters.
