Ongoing High Terror Threat - Bag Ban Remains

The terrorist threat is still assessed to be at the second-highest level. The ban on bags at concerts, among other things, will therefore remain in place.

It is not currently relevant to either raise or lower the terror threat level, says Fredrik Hallström, operational chief at the Security Police.

The terror threat level remains high and we are not in a situation where we can relax.

He participated on Wednesday in the government's press conference on the internal security situation in Sweden.

The terror threat level was raised to a four on a five-point scale last August, which means that the risk of terrorist attacks is considered high.

That we remain at a four on the five-point scale means that authorities, municipalities, and organizers should continue to take necessary security measures, says Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer (M).

The public is urged to continue living as usual, but be vigilant about anything that deviates and think about not contributing to the spread of disinformation.

In November, a ban on bags was also introduced at larger events following a police decision. The decision applies to larger sports events, concerts, and festivals.

TT: How long will the ban remain in place?

The threat level remains at a four and we will continue to work based on that and have no immediate thoughts of changing it, says Johan Olsson, head of the police's National Operational Department, Noa.
