Gårdschips is no longer allowed to sell their parmesan chips, reports Hallandsposten.

It was on Friday that Laholm Municipality conducted a food control at the chip factory.

From April, you need a permit to use the name parmesan for this particular type they have, and they couldn't show us that permit, says Annica Hegefeldt, environmental manager in Laholm Municipality, to the newspaper.

The reason is that the cheese now has a protected designation of origin within the EU.

If the company violates the sales ban, they can be fined 5,000 kronor per violation. However, the chips that are already in stores can be sold.

"Our comment right now is that we think it's an incorrect decision and we will appeal," writes Hanna Åhsberg, site manager at Gårdschips, in a text message to Hallandsposten.
