Tadej Pogacar is cycling's big giant right now. On Sunday, the Slovenian made history when he won the World Championship's road race over 273.9 km and thus took home cycling's "triple crown" – namely victories in the Giro d'Italia, Tour de France, and World Championship in one and the same year.

I can't believe what just happened. I put a lot of pressure on myself, says Pogacar in a victory interview with the International Cycling Federation, according to NTB.

Pogacar is the first to take home the "triple crown" since 1987, and the fourth cyclist ever to do so, according to Radiosporten.

There was Swedish participation at the starting line in the World Championship race in the form of Lucas Eriksson, but he was forced to abandon the race.

Ben O'Connor, Australia, finished second in the road race behind Pogacar. Mathieu van der Poel, the Netherlands, finished third.
