The water quality in the Seine is not good enough to allow triathletes to jump in for a first pass intended to let them get a feel for the course, announce the Olympic Games organizers in Paris on Sunday morning.
The announcement comes after a meeting about taken samples and the status of the water in the river, which runs through central Paris.
It rained heavily in Paris both during the Olympic Games opening on Friday and on Saturday, which is likely behind the deteriorated water quality.
If it stays rain-free over the next two days, the organizers are "confident" that the water quality will again be within the limits by the time the triathlon competitions begin on Tuesday, July 30, they write in a joint statement.
