A man in Umeå is being prosecuted for holding his small baby out from a balcony – approximately eight meters above the ground. The prosecutor claims that he did it to influence the mother during an argument.
I claim that he did this to intimidate and threaten simply, says prosecutor Peter Jonsson to Västerbottens-Kuriren.
The mother has stated in police questioning that it only took a few seconds and that the man never verbally threatened to drop the child. He himself has no memory of the event, since he was so intoxicated.
He is being prosecuted for gross unlawful threats against the mother, the baby, and an older child who witnessed the event. He is also being prosecuted for having swung his fist in the air near his partner's face.
