Rally star Sébastien Ogier and his co-driver Vincent Landais crashed into another car during training.

Both were taken to hospital along with two other people.

Fortunately, nothing serious has happened, says team manager Jari-Matti Latvala.

Ogier and Landais were out training on a minor road ahead of the World Championship rally in Poland when they collided head-on with a private car.

On X, formerly Twitter, the Toyota team reports that both rally drivers were transported to hospital for examinations.

According to the Finnish newspaper Ilta-sanomat, team manager Jari-Matti Latvala has given reassuring news.

"No one is in danger of their life"

No one is in danger of their life and fortunately, nothing serious has happened, Latvala tells the newspaper.

The two people, a man and a woman, who were in the other car, a Ford, were also taken to hospital. They are reported to be injured.

According to the news agency AP, police spokesperson Tomasz Markowski in Olsztyn says that the cars were involved in a traffic accident near the town of Wlosty, not far from the border with the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad.

Polish TV footage showed that both fire brigade and ambulance helicopter were present at the accident site. Both cars' front ends had extensive damage.

The drivers were airlifted to hospital, the passengers by ambulance. According to Polish media, Ogier complained of chest and back pain. All those involved were conscious.

Talked to Ogier

The 40-year-old Frenchman Sébastien Ogier is a multiple World Champion. He won six consecutive World Championship titles from 2013 to 2018 and his latest title in 2021. He is competing sparingly in the World Championship series this season, but won both the Corsica and Portugal World Championship rallies earlier this year.

The Polish World Championship rally takes place from Thursday to Sunday this week. It is the first rally with World Championship status in the country in seven years.

Ogier has won it twice.

Latvala could not say whether Ogier and Landais can participate in the rally after today's crash.

It all depends on what the doctors say. Our team has spoken to "Seb" and we know that, fortunately, nothing serious has happened, says Latvala.
