Two men in their 50s ran onto the track during Vasaloppet earlier this year, and are now being prosecuted for suspected breach of the Public Order Act, reports SVT Dalarna.
With only a few hundred meters left to the finish line, two climate activists jumped onto the track in front of Norwegian Torleif Syrstad, who was leading the race.
It was a few seconds when I got scared that they would ruin everything. I saw them coming and hoped that no more would come. I didn't want anything like that to ruin it for me today, said Syrstad to TT after the incident.
The men were quickly removed by police and security guards before Torleif Syrstad, who then won the race, passed.
The prosecuted men deny any wrongdoing but acknowledge the sequence of events, according to SVT.
