Ullevi gets rejected this year. When Bruce Springsteen comes to Sweden, it will be for two concerts at Strawberry arena outside Stockholm.

But even though the concerts have been as long as usual, the star has been plagued by vocal problems during the tour.

Bruce Springsteen, 74, scared his many fans last autumn when he was forced to cancel his world tour due to stomach ulcers.

I sing with my diaphragm, and mine hurt so much that it felt like I was going to die when I tried. I couldn't sing at all for two, three months, said Springsteen later in a radio interview.

Before people assured me that I would be okay again, I didn't know if I would ever be able to sing again.

But he came back. A new tour began in North America in February, in May it was time for the European leg, and now it's time for the Swedish performances. On the 15th and 18th, Springsteen will play at Strawberry arena.

The American will be the first artist to play at the arena after the name change from Friends.

Reports from the concerts so far reveal that Springsteen has offered his usual long – three-hour – concerts with all the favorite songs.

But he has had vocal problems along the way and was forced to cancel performances in Marseille, Prague, and Milan in late May due to this.

After the concert in Odense, Denmark, on July 9, Springsteen received bad reviews precisely because of his voice.

"He quickly lost his voice and managed to sing on sheer willpower", wrote Politiken's reviewer Alexander Vesterlund, while Ekstra Bladet's Thomas Treo thought it was time for Springsteen to retire.

Bruce Springsteen is most associated with Ullevi and Gothenburg in Sweden after the famous concerts in 1985 – and he played there as recently as last year.

But he has also been to Stockholm several times, the first time as early as 1975. However, it's actually eleven years since The Boss and his E Street Band were in the capital. Then it was also at the former Friends arena.
