The Municipal Council in Stockholm has decided to terminate the city's agreement with the state-owned Swedavia regarding Bromma Airport, writes the red-green administration in a press release.

The Social Democrats, the Left Party, and the Green Party – which have a majority in the Council – announced already last winter that the parties intended to terminate the agreement, and want to develop a new urban district in the area under the name Bromma Park City in the long run.

The current agreement with Swedavia, which owns the airport, is valid until December 31, 2038, and must be terminated no later than three years before the end of the agreement period.

"We now want to initiate a constructive dialogue with Swedavia and the government about accelerating the phase-out," says Karin Wanngård (S), Finance Commissioner, in the press release.

Among other things, the opposition parties The Moderate Party and The Liberals have previously criticized a potential closure of the airport. However, since Bra announced that the airline would stop flying from Bromma, The Liberals have changed their minds.
