After a day at anchor, the vessel that experienced engine problems near Angeredsbron has started being towed away.

Professional traffic on the Göta älv will, however, continue to experience delays for several more days.

Yes, it will take a few days to catch up on all the delays, says Sebastian Wigmo, press spokesperson at the Swedish Maritime Administration.

It was on Monday morning that a larger cargo vessel experienced engine problems and was forced to anchor in the shipping lane.

On Tuesday morning, two tugboats began the work of getting the vessel out of the way.

The vessel is facing the wrong direction, so it needs to turn a bit further north. They expect the entire operation to take four, five hours before it reaches Göteborg.

So far, at least five other vessels have been delayed due to the incident.

There were three vessels affected yesterday. Since then, we have had a vessel that was supposed to depart from Surte with a delayed departure time and a vessel that wanted to enter the lane at midnight, says Sebastian Wigmo.
