During a dramatic car chase in Östersund in August last year, shots were fired with an automatic weapon towards pursuing police cars. Now, two men are sentenced to prison for 6 years and 6 months and 5 years and 6 months, respectively, announces the Court of Appeal for Lower Norrland.
The men, 19 and 24 years old, thus have their sentences increased by half a year and 1 year and 6 months, respectively.
The verdict is upheld in the question of guilt.
The younger man is convicted of gross threats against an official, gross obstruction of emergency services, gross weapons offense, and unlawful threats. The older man is convicted of aiding and abetting gross threats against an official, gross sabotage of emergency services, gross weapons offense, and unlawful threats.
The men were also charged with attempted murder of four police officers, but according to the district court and the Court of Appeal, it has not been established that the 19-year-old, who held the weapon, aimed the shots at the police cars and had the intention to kill.
The man has admitted to firing the shots, but denies the crime and claims that he shot into the air.
