Swedish assistance following the wave of violence in Denmark

The National Unit against International Organised Crime is assisting Danish authorities in several cases related to the recent wave of violence. Two Swedish citizens have already been extradited to Denmark. A third person was arrested in Sweden on behalf of the Copenhagen police this week.

According to Måns Björklund, deputy chief prosecutor at the unit, there are even more cases.

What I can say is that our unit is working on several cases in parallel, where we assist Danish authorities to prosecute individuals.

Björklund does not want to disclose how many cases are involved or what they are assisting with in each individual case.

Handing over Swedish citizens is one way, another way can be to assist with investigative measures.

A man and a woman, both Swedish citizens, were arrested by police after an explosion at a kiosk in Copenhagen on August 6.

Both the man and the woman were requested to be handed over to Denmark and were later remanded in custody by the Copenhagen District Court.

This week, a Swedish man was arrested on behalf of the Copenhagen police. The man was remanded in custody by the Växjö District Court on Tuesday and will be handed over to Denmark.

He has appealed to the Court of Appeal, which took the same line as the District Court. He has a week to appeal the decision. After that, we have five days to hand him over, says prosecutor Emma Adolfsson.

The Copenhagen police, who are responsible for the case, have not wanted to disclose what the man is suspected of.
