The management of the food company Kavli, which manufactures 80 percent of all Swedish mustard, has been holding crisis meetings on Friday, reports Skånska Dagbladet.
Instead of being allowed to expand its production as the company has applied for, the Land and Environment Court of Appeal at the Svea Court of Appeal has ruled that they are no longer allowed to use a cooling facility from 2011 in the factory in Eslöv.
The facility contains ammonia, which in the event of an accident would create serious problems for the surroundings, according to the ruling.
Kavli claims, however, that the current production is not affected since they have an environmental permit from 2002.
If Kavli has an old permit, we cannot touch it. But the old permit does not cover the cooling facility, says Anna Tiberg at the Land and Environment Court of Appeal, to Skånska Dagbladet.
The factory produces products such as mayonnaise, ketchup, vinegar, and soy sauce. Brands like Johnny's, Druvan, and Perstorp Vinegar have products manufactured in the factory.
