Swedish speed skier continues his endeavour

The only Swedish speed skater in the alpine national team, Felix Monsén, was dropped from the A-team last spring. Now it is clear that the 29-year-old will continue his endeavour on his own, reports Radiosporten.

Monsén was dropped because his results had not been sufficient. As a result, the national team will not pay for another season – but now the message is that the 29-year-old will continue his endeavour.

Since being dropped in May, he has collected enough money to continue on his own. So far, he has brought in about 80 per cent of the million kronor he has budgeted for.

I almost have to say that it's primarily people in my surroundings who are very willing to help, which has been the big difference. Many like alpine skiing and want to see a downhill skier in the World Cup, says Monsén to Radiosporten.

Monsén has achieved a 13th place in the World Cup as his best result, which came in downhill in Lake Louise in 2021. Since then, however, he has been plagued by injuries. Last season, he only made three appearances in the World Cup due to injuries and cancelled competitions because of bad weather.
