Guidetti the derby hero - decided in stoppage time

It looked like it was going to be a goalless Stockholm derby between AIK and Hammarby in the Allsvenskan football. Then AIK star John Guidetti wanted it otherwise. In the 92nd minute, he scored 1-0 – which also became the final result of the match. These are the kind of matches I live for, says an emotional Guidetti in Max afterwards.

It was the home team AIK who stepped on the gas almost immediately in the derby against Hammarby. "The Gnaw" had double giant chances already in the fifth minute, first through Ioannis Pittas where Hammarby goalkeeper Warner Hahn came out enough to disturb, and in the second wave Bersant Celina followed up by shooting at the post.

AIK continued with full speed forward and a leading goal seemed to be in the air for the home team, but the very last thing was missing for the black and yellows and the match was goalless at halftime.

We should have scored one or two goals, I think. Our press is sitting well, we are quite calm with the ball, but it's the last little thing that's missing, to put the ball in the goal, said AIK's Anton Salétros to Max during the break.

"Need to improve everything"

On the other side, Victor Eriksson in Hammarby's defense was less pleased with the first half.

It's not good enough, we don't get out of their press and we make a lot of ball losses in our own half, so we need to improve that. We need to improve everything, really.

And indeed, it looked better for "Bajen" when the second half got underway. The team made fewer mistakes with the ball within the team and also managed to stop AIK's quick attacks better, and the feeling was that the guests were taking over more and more.

Fire and loud bang

As the minutes went by, it became clear that the emotions were getting hotter – and not just on the football pitch. With just over 70 minutes played, the match was temporarily interrupted, after AIK supporters set fire to Hammarby clothes in the stands.

Then a loud bang was also heard, according to SVT from Hammarby's section, which made referee Glenn Nyberg call both teams down to the dressing rooms and hold a match meeting.

The match could eventually be resumed – and it looked like it would be a goalless story all the way to the end.

Then Guidetti stepped forward.

In the 92nd minute, the 32-year-old could score 1–0 for AIK – a goal that was enough for the win.

It's emotional. I've fought hard, my family and my friends have to put up with so much all the time. It's been tough, but I've kept fighting, it's clear it means a lot. These are the kind of matches I live for, says a emotional Guidetti in Max afterwards.
