The International Football Federation (Fifa) reports on its website.
The stadium, which usually hosts American football, is the home ground for the two NFL teams New York Jets and New York Giants and has seating for 82,500 spectators in the stands.
Fifa has traditionally organized an annual club World Championship in December with seven teams, but the tournament has now got a new format with a larger scope. Next summer, 32 teams will participate in the tournament, which will be played every four years.
Fifa President Gianni Infantino has said that the tournament will be "a new chapter in football's global history", but it has also been criticized by many.
The criticism has, among other things, been about the tournament contributing to even more matches in an already hectic match schedule for many of the top players.
In total, matches will be played at twelve different locations in the USA in the 2025 edition of the club World Championship. The tournament will also serve as a kind of test run for the men's football World Championship the following year.
