The Government wants to accelerate the green transition. In the strategy for northern Sweden that the Government is now presenting, there are investments in, among other things, hydrogen gas pipelines.

"Now there is a golden opportunity for northern Sweden to lead the new industrial revolution and become a driving force for Europe's green innovations", write the Ministers Ebba Busch (KD), Johan Pehrson (L), Elisabeth Svantesson (M) and Andreas Carlson (KD) on Dagens Nyheter's debate page.

Projects in northern Sweden are estimated to increase the country's GDP by two-three percent and lead to 20,000 new jobs, according to a report commissioned by Region Norrbotten.

The strategy has seven points. One of the parts deals with securing the energy supply. Here, fossil-free hydrogen plays an important role as "the best solution for phasing out fossil fuels" in, for example, iron and steel production.

"The Government is therefore giving Svenska kraftnät the task of submitting proposals on how electricity and hydrogen infrastructure can be jointly planned in northern Sweden, so that more hydrogen gas pipelines can be built", write the Ministers.

Another part is to strengthen transport infrastructure to facilitate commuting and goods transport. The Swedish Transport Administration is to accelerate the work on increasing the capacity of the Malmbanan on behalf of the Government.

The Government also wants to see more housing to improve the opportunities for immigration.
