Thousands of artworks are missing from regions around the country. Statistics, which Good Morning World has taken part of, show for example that in Region Skåne, 4,000 out of a total of 34,000 works are missing, in Västra Götaland, more than 3,000 out of 68,000 works are missing, and in Uppsala, 1,000 out of 22,000 works are missing.
In Region Dalarna, one tenth of 22,000 works are missing, which are otherwise displayed at hospitals, health centers, and regional offices.
Some of the works are suspected to have been stolen, but the region's art administrator Margareta Björklund suspects that the art may have disappeared for other reasons.
It may be that some people even throw them away because they think they are ugly. It may also be that some people have taken them home over the years, and then it's very difficult to keep track of all the art, she says to P4 Dalarna.
