Three police officers have been injured and one person has been arrested late on Friday in Dublin in the latest violent protest against immigration.

Friday's protest broke out in the northern part of the Irish capital at a local site being renovated to accommodate 500 asylum seekers. It is the latest of several demonstrations that have turned violent during the week.

On Monday, 21 people were arrested after police cars were attacked and machines were set on fire. Ireland's Prime Minister Simon Harris called the violence "despicable" and "criminal".

The police report that Friday's planned protest initially "proceeded peacefully" with over 1,000 demonstrators, according to RTÉ. It later developed into demonstrators throwing stones and concrete blocks at the police.

A fire also broke out in the building, which also happened earlier in the week, and is being investigated by the police as suspected arson.
