World number five in golf, Wyndham Clark, is one of four selected for the USA's Olympic men's golf team.

Something he himself thinks is bigger than the biggest tournament in golf, the Ryder Cup.

It's the coolest team I've been part of, absolutely, says Clark at a press conference.

Since golf's return to the Olympics in 2016, several major players have achieved success in the competition. Britain's Justin Rose won then (before Henrik Stenson took Olympic silver), and in 2021, American Xander Schauffele won.

But despite this, the Olympic golf tournament has been overshadowed when it comes to the biggest tournaments in golf. Often mentioned are the major tournaments The Masters, British Open, and not least the prestigious team tournament Ryder Cup, where the USA competes against Europe.

But according to the Olympic-selected American Wyndham Clark, this is completely wrong.

"A higher level"

Ryder Cup has been the biggest. But now, with golf in the Olympics, it's probably even bigger. You represent your country on a higher level, says Clark at a press conference.

He is part of the American Olympic men's golf team, and it's no mediocre players that the country is sending to Paris.

Besides Clark, who is world number five, world number one Scottie Scheffler, number three and reigning champion Xander Schauffele, and world number seven Collin Morikawa will also be fighting for medals.

Åberg plays for Sweden

Hopefully, we can all be part of challenging for podium places and contributing medals to the USA to try to win the overall medal table. It's very cool, it's the coolest team I've been part of, absolutely, concludes Clark.

For Sweden, Ludvig Åberg and Alex Norén will be playing on the men's side.

The Olympic golf tournament takes place between 1-4 August.
