Suspicion of gross drunk driving, driver's license taken into custody on the spot, and seizure of car keys in accordance with §24 of the Police Act.

The Police Act is the law that regulates the police's tasks, powers, and organization.

Excerpt §24:

If, due to special reasons, it can be considered that there is a risk that an offense according to section 4 or 4 a of the Act (1951:649) on punishment for certain traffic offenses will be committed, a police officer, in order to prevent the offense, may temporarily seize vehicle keys or other necessary items for the journey, or, if necessary, the vehicle.

If the conditions in the first paragraph are met and it is necessary to search for such property as mentioned there, a police officer may search the person who may be liable for the offense and search the vehicle.
