On Saturday, an annual recurring cruising event took place in Skellefteå. An event that started in Piteå last weekend.

As experience shows that the event can generate certain disturbances and traffic offenses, the police had reinforced resources in Skellefteå during the evening. This has enabled the police to be on site where disturbances could have occurred. The patrols have thus been able to prevent a lot of these disturbances and identify those who disturb. They have worked proactively and preventively. The police have also collaborated with the municipality - social services and field assistants.

The assessment after this year's event is that it has been relatively calm. No reports of serious violent crimes have been filed.

However, more fines than on a regular weekend have been issued. Police with traffic expertise have also carried out numerous flying inspections of vehicles where vehicle defects related to traffic safety have been discovered. In their work, they have also used so-called UAS, drones, to get an overview of the event.
